Easter Sunrise, April 17, 2022 8:00am

I arise today

Through the strength of heaven;

Light of the sun, Splendor of fire,

Speed of lightning, Swiftness of the wind,

Depth of the sea, Stability of the earth,

Firmness of the rock. ~ St. Patrick

Easter Proclamation

One:    The quantum, the subatomic, the elemental, and the very minerals of the earth:                               God loves things by becoming them!

Voice:   The very waters that fall upon the earth, run through our rivers, our bodies and fill our oceans:    God loves things by becoming them!

Women The plants, the trees, all living and growing networks that root into this earth:                              God loves things by becoming them!

Voice:  The animals in our skies, in our oceans, on the land, all creatures

great and small:                           God loves things by becoming them!

Voice:   Human beings: every race, nationality, status, sexuality, or gender… ALL human bodies:      God loves things by becoming them!

Men:    The angels and the spirits, those that move in the unseen realms and in other dimensions:             God loves things by becoming them!

Voice:   The great planetary bodies, the galaxies, and the whole cosmic mystery:                                       God loves things by becoming them!

Then the Lord God fashioned the human, humus from the soil, and blew into his nostrils the breath of life, and the human became a living creature (Genesis 2:7, Alter). Creator of All, as you blew breath into the first human, blow your breath into us today that we may be made new, that you may your life may be lived in us. Amen.

Hymn: Behold, Behold!  -  MV #115

Behold, behold! I make all things new,

beginning with you and starting from today!

Behold, behold! I make all things new,

my promise is true, for I am Christ the way.

Scripture Reading: John 20:11-18

But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb; and she saw two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had been lying, one at the head and the other at the feet. They said to her, ‘Woman, why are you weeping?’ She said to them, ‘They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him.’ When she had said this, she turned round and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to her, ‘Woman, why are you weeping? For whom are you looking?’ Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, ‘Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away.’ Jesus said to her, ‘Mary!’ She turned and said to him in Hebrew, ‘Rabbouni!’ (which means Teacher). Jesus said to her, ‘Do not hold on to me, because I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and say to them, “I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.” ’ Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, ‘I have seen the Lord’; and she told them that he had said these things to her.

Reflect on the presence of Christ here and in our world

For the next 8 min, you’re invited to wander and reflect on this passage from John. To what (whom) are you drawn? Sister wind, brother water, sister earth, or brother fire? From where (whom) is the Jesus calling your name?

Baptismal Remembrance

One:  God you move over the waters of creation;

All:    You form new life in the waters of the womb;

One:  You renew the Earth with winter snows and spring rains;

All:    You show your power in waterfalls and crashing waves;

One:  You dance with your people through water to promised lands;

All:    You water our gardens to bring forth food;

One:  You play in sprinklers on hot summer days;

All:    You revive us with a cool glass of water;

Blessed are you, Source of Life and Author of Creation, for you give all creation water to make all things new. Bless this water with the gifts of your Holy Spirit; may it be for us living water and a symbol of your fierce love for us. Amen.

As you feel comfortable, step forward to the bowl of water for a blessing with the words: “You are a beloved child of God!” Baptized or not, the truth of God’s love is for you; all are welcome to participate.

Prayers

Let us send prayers to places of darkness in the world that need God’s light.

Sending You Light   Betsy Rose

We are sending you light, to heal you, to hold you;

we are sending you light to hold you in love.

The light of Christ is always available to you to receive for yourself and send to others.

Blessing

Christ is risen!

Alleluia!

Christ is risen and Love persists.

And so let us go with joy.

For we go in the company of the Spirit

who opens the grave,

who makes the impossible possible,

who turns the work of destruction into sites of Sacred resistance.

Nothing can keep us from living the dreams of God.

May it be so!
