Our Beliefs

Mission Statement:

We follow Jesus Christ Worshipping and Serving with Love and Joy.

We open our minds, hearts, and doors to the world.

All Are Welcome To Worship Together

We welcome you, whoever and wherever you are, to join us on a journey. We strive to accept each other as we are and welcome the ministry and participation of all persons regardless of age, gender identity, health, race, sexual orientation, differing abilities, religious or ethnic background or economic circumstance.  We hope that in all that we do, in our worship and community life,  that the Creator’s unconditional love is experienced. We do this trusting The Creator is with us on the journey.

THE CHRIST CHURCH GABRIOLA COVENANT

Gracious and Loving God,

We, Christ Church Gabriola, followers of Jesus Christ, shared Anglican and United ministry,
who welcome all persons into our community, who are shaped by your call and by the
people you call to our community of faith . . .
We covenant with You and with one another:

CONNECT
to lovingly support each other as we grow in Christ, creating opportunities to connect with each
other in fellowship
to welcome and integrate into our community all persons as children of God
to become a multi-generational community
to share the good news with everyone, including those who have not valued church as it has
been
to be relevant and effective in sharing God’s love
to bring the church into the future

WORSHIP
to worship you with openness to the movement of your Spirit in our midst, using the grounding
we have in our traditions, inclusive language, musical diversity, and creativity

LEARN AND GROW
to learn and grow together through exploring the Christian tradition, spiritual practices, and
progressive theologies
to offer to the wider community safe space to engage in conversations about matters important
to life, faith and the world
to inform ourselves about issues of social justice, giving priority to local issues
to use respectful communication in discussing social justice issues, and to examine each issue
from multiple perspectives

SERVE
to live in love and justice, and to work for the well-being of the earth and its inhabitants
to stay relevant to and in relationship with the community and world around us
to serve the island by offering our own resources, collaborating with other agencies, and
drawing on our connections with the wider community.

This we covenant, in Christ’s name. Amen
